Art statement:
Surrealism is a study to evoke an emotional and/or psychological response by using Symbolism, and multiple images. I believe that art is subject to interpretation, which is to say that it is the viewers interpretation and not the artists. This is keeping with the fundamental principles of Surrealism, which originally are based in psychology. These images that are contained in each painting are both conscious and subconscious. Art takes one to a place of fiction or familiarity, to evoke a psychological and/or emotional response. This directly works on the subconscious mind, and allows us to manifest our own conclusions about the world in which we live. And offers the viewer a way of thinking about our roles in society, and how they affect us psychologically and/or emotionally.
Because Surrealism is an aspect of showing perspectives of multiple images it is not that dissimilar from Cubism, which explores multiple perspectives of a single object. These Surrealist concepts are based on the four principles of Surrealism. Morphing, Bi morphing, Layering, and Movement, but this is just one aspect of Surrealism. The other is dimensions for example: one dimension, two dimension, three dimension which we are familiar with. Now there are a total of eleven suspected dimensions. Starting with the fourth that some say is time, but I believe that negative space would be the fourth. Which is a three dimensional object that can be passed through. So lets call the fifth time and go on to the sixth where multiple objects occupy the same time, space, and volume. This is the beginning of parallel universes.
These topics are what my work consist of the expanding of existing ideas, and how they affect us.
